Situated in northern Hughes County, Wetumka serves as headquarters for the Alabama-Quassarte and Kialegee Tribal Towns. Wetumka is also home to Wes Watkins Technology Center, a nationally recognized vocational school that partners with nine different schools in four counties to provide career training for younger adults. Adult education classes and special interest classes serve the Wetumka residents as well as those of surrounding communities.
The community offers quality primary and secondary education, excellent healthcare through the East Central Oklahoma Family Health Center and family fun at the 169 acre lake located just north of town.
Wetumka is also host to a unique festival held annually the last weekend in September. The Sucker Day celebration is a true testament about how a community turned an unfortunate event into a celebration.
